Description
This hat is inspired by my Straemsound hat which uses a zig zag colourwork pattern. Instead of using two colours the hat uses a series of knit and purl stitches to create an interesting textured pattern. The zig zag pattern converges at the crown forming a satisfying star shape. There are instructions for three sizes, small, medium and large, small and medium are more of a beanie style whereas the large is a sluchy fit.
It uses one skein of Langsoond Shetland DK yarn.
In crofting, toonsmal is the old Shetland term for the grazing land usually next to a dwelling house, a nod to land where the the fleece has come from.
