The Langsoond Yarn Studio is situated in Burra, in an extension of the main house belonging to Donna on the Brake croft. Here you will find a selection of Langsoond yarns in both undyed shades and naturally dyed colours and a range of weights. There is also a selection of knitting patterns, publications, and arts and crafts, all either made or designed in Shetland by local designers and crafts people. The shop is now closed for the winter season and will be open again in the spring. Visitors are welcome by appointment, please fill out the contact form on the website or email donna@donnasmithdesigns.co.uk to find a time that suits us both.
Head toward Scalloway but before you go into Scalloway take the junction on the left-hand side towards Burra Isle. Keep going to Burra, you will cross two bridges. When you cross the second bridge into Burra, at the top of the steep hill turn left at the junction towards Bridge End. The house is only a short drive from this junction.
You will go around a sharp bend then go past the Meal Beach car park (on your left) and head right up the hill. There’s a red house on the left-hand side half way up the hill, my house and studio is the next one. There is a dry-stone dyke around the front of the house and a light grey conservatory facing the road. The door is on the porch and has a Langsoond sticker on it, this is where the yarn is!
The post code is ZE2 9LB which will get you to the right area but the house doesn’t register on Sat Nav!
